Sunset Over Kachemak Bay From Pebble Beach, Homer
Kachemak Bay, Homer, Kenai Peninsula
Warm sunset colors light the sky over Kachemak Bay, viewed from a pebble beach near Homer on the Kenai Peninsula. Kachemak Bay is a deep fjord off Cook Inlet, and its north and south shores hold two very different landscapes: the Homer Spit and town on one side, the Kenai Mountains and Kachemak Bay State Park on the other. Sunsets here work best in the shoulder seasons when the sun actually drops into a low-angle position over the water. This beach is the classic take-a-walk end of Homer after a long drive down the peninsula, and in the right evening it is about as quiet a place as a road-accessible spot in Alaska gets.
