Alaska Winter Travel - driving a pickup truck on a snow-covered McCarthy Road.

Driving the McCarthy Road, in Wrangell - St. Elias National Park and Preserve, can be treacherous any time of year; known as 'the worst road in Alaska', the McCarthy Road is 60 miles of unpaved travel. "Drive at your own risk' says the sign at right. This pickup truck made it all the way in and out, from Chitina to McCarthy and back, in deep winter snow conditions.
