A male grosbeak surveys the snowy landscape of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, its bright orange and black feathers a striking contrast against the white.

With its large, conical beak and distinctive song, the grosbeak is a favorite among birdwatchers.

As winter sets in, this male seems undaunted by the cold, its vibrant plumage and bold voice a sign of the beauty that can be found even in the bleakest of seasons.
