A Common Redpoll, Carduelis flammea, calling from a perch on a spruce tree, amidst falling snow, winter, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Alaska.
A redpoll perches atop a snowy branch in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. With its distinctive red forehead and black chin, this small finch is a common sight in northern regions during the winter months. Despite the cold, this redpoll seems content to brave the elements in search of food.
