- Photos of bear cubs, including grizzly bear cubs, brown bear cubs, polar bear cubs and black bear cubs. Few animals are as cute as a baby bear cub. Bear cubs are generally born in January or February, helpless and hairless, blind and unable to fend for themselves.
Polar bear cubs leave the dens in February or March, and grizzly bear, brown bear cubs and black bear cubs generally leave the dens with their mother around middle of April. Bear cubs of all species typically stay with their mother, the sow, for 2-3 years before they leave and must fend for themselves. Bear cub mortality is very high.
