Canidae is the dog family of the world, with members of this family found on virtually every continent on earth (only Antarctica is devoid of native canids). Canids are an extremely adaptable family of species, and can be found from sea level to altitudes over 5000m (or 16 000 feet). Though taxonomists differ with their classifications, most taxonomists suggest their are around 35 species of canids in the world.
