The Last Post? Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska

A creek flowing in fall, Skolai Pass, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska.

Hey Folks,

I’m heading bush in the morning, so it might be a while before I can get to the blog. I’ll try my best to keep up regularly. In the meantime, here’s a photo I took one afternoon on our Skolai Pass Photo Tour this last fall.

This trip I’ll be gone a little longer, and have some new ideas for images, and places to visit, so hopefully I’ll get some interesting photos. I also have a new 12v battery and an inverter so maybe I can use my laptop more than once a week and get some downloading and image processing done from time to time. I’ll be skiing a bit too, so that might help me get to some previously unvisited vistas! I’ll also have lots of clothes, as the temperature’s been WAY down low over that lately, so extras might be a good idea. If anyone wants to come visit, please let me know via email, and bring fresh veggies with ya!

I’ll also try to maybe post some of the stuff I’m writing over there, rather just blasé notes about my blunders in the park. I don’t know interesting it might be, but I’ll give it a whirl. If you’re REALLY lucky, I’ll post it all in Spanish. 🙂

If you’re wondering where Skolai Pass is, It’s in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve.

Cheers

Carl

Hey Carl, be safe & don’t let the Abominable Snowman get you. Lookingforward to more great pictures & trivia. Have fun!!

Do be safe out there. I, personally, become concerned if I tiptoe over rocks in a roadside ditch. As always, thank you for the beautiful images.

    Hey Guys

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Well, I’m halfway there! I drove all afternoon to catch some alpenglow on the egde of the park, but some pesky raggedy clouds have the mtns all blocked in. So I’ll wait around tonight, and maybe catch a sunrise, before heading in the Rd in the morning. Hopefully the road won’t be the same condition it was in when I made my way out last week.

I think I’m missing some football game. 🙂

    Cheers

    G’day Carl,
Come clean and admit that Shaq is really the old family homestead Down Under where you were raised and which I built with my bare hands – I wondered where that photo had got to- and your old folks still live there and eke out a living, and its getting harder and harder to keep the wolves,er dingoes, from the door. I’ll bet you are comfortably ensconced in the hotel at McCarthy with all mod cons.Your readers will also be interested to know that the trivia tree is really a young Kurrajong tree I planted in our front yard some time ago.
However, wherever you are, take care and we’ll be thinking of you,
    Your old Ma & Pa

You guys are a trip!! So now we know the truth! Thanks Ma & Pa!So you really are a Bear Grylls! Have fun but do be safe. We really do care for your safety, as always. The Super Bowl sucked anyway because New England lost & screwed up their perfect season as per the law of averages, or maybe just too big of an ego. Reminds me of Mike Vick!! Anyway Carl, I’m sure you know all this by now. Just thought I’d check in & aggravate you a little. Sounds like Ma & Pa wanted to do the same! Well, take care, hope to hear from your post soon.
