Jawbone, on Section IV of the Chattooga River, is the last of the rapids that make up "Five Falls", a classic whitewater rafting and kayaking section of the Chattooga River in the Southern Appalachian mountains, making it a primary travel and tourism destination in Georgia. The Chattooga River lies between the Chattahoochee and Sumter National Forests, and is a designated Wild and Scenic Scenic, protected under the federal "Wild and Scenic Rivers Act". The Chattooga River is one of the more popular tourist destinations in the Georgia mountains, for hiking, whitewater rafting and kayaking and other outdoor activities.
